DENVER, Colorado, September 9, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – A Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) priest in the Archdiocese of Denver came under fire from Catholic News Agency (CNA) for saying Catholics needn’t follow draconian coronavirus mask mandates from their bishop or governor.
“Disobey your bishop, disobey your governor,” if they try to force you to wear a face covering, Father Daniel Nolan, FSSP quipped in a video that was briefly posted online.
His superiors said he is no longer to post videos on the Internet, and the Archdiocese told LifeSiteNews it is satisfied with the way the issue has been addressed.
Nolan serves at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Littleton, Colorado.
“They cannot tell you to wear a mask,” Nolan had said. “This is a lie. They are lying to all of us.”
“Don’t wear a mask,” Nolan continued. “If your bishop tells you, don’t do it. And I encourage everybody not to wear a mask. And I am telling you: disobey your bishop, disobey your governor. That’s what I’m telling you.”
“We ought to obey God rather than man,” he emphasized. “And if the bishop tells you to do something that is contrary to your health, contrary to reason, and contrary to the common good, disobey it. And it’s contrary to the common good to continue to go along with an attempted communist takeover of the United States, which is what’s happening.”
“If you’re healthy, you have a 0.006 percent chance of dying from COVID,” Nolan noted, adding, “scamdemic,” a phrase popular with those who believe the global response to the coronavirus outbreak has been overblown.”
