“There are two means of removing a rogue governor from elected office – recall or impeachment. Recall is a citizen-led initiative involving recall petition circulation. Impeachment is a legislator-led initiative.
The grounds for impeaching Governor Whitmer of Michigan include the following:
– Violation of PA 390 of 1976: Emergency Management Act by refusing to assent to the 28 day limit to state of emergency without approval of an extension by the legislature
– Violation of constitutional rights of Michigan residents by infringing upon their freedom of assembly, freedom of worship, and petition the government for redress of grievances
– Criminal negligence for placing COVID-19 patients among most vulnerable population in nursing homes resulting in high fatality rates in these facilities
– Violation of PA 345 of 2014: Right to Try Act by threatening physicians with “administrative action” should they prescribe Hydroxychloroquine for patients diagnosed with COVID-19.
Impeachment is not to be considered lightly. We must, however, restore a respect for the rule of law and the sanctity of life.
In order to remove her from office, a majority of House members must vote to impeach her and 2/3 of Senate members must vote to convict her of the offenses cited during her impeachment. Upon removal from office, the Lieutenant Governor assumes the title of Governor.
Impeachment is covered in Article XI, Section 7 of the Michigan Constitution. See Legislature.MI.Gov for full text. http://legislature.mi.gov/(S(dksn1g44nk05tbjmkqzvv0r3))/documents/mcl/pdf/mcl-chap1.pdf
“We the People” are doing our part. Citizens will be distributing recall petitions on July 29th. See RecallGovernorWhitmer.com for more information on that initiative.
Now, the question is, will our representatives do their part?
All it takes to get the ball rolling is for ONE representative to introduce a resolution to impeach the Governor. Just ONE.”
